Montol celebrations in Penzance
Montol celebrations in Penzance, winter solstice last year

We're building up to the Solstice, Hanukkah and Christmas again, and the days are generally dark and rainy here in NW Europe. It is an extraordinary thing that for the third month running, as we were coming up to the dark moon, a tropical cyclone was heading north-east past the Azores. Fortunately all it caused here in Britain was more rain.

Of course, here in the UK, we are also in the midst of a general election campaign, with polling day now just two weeks away as I write. If you have the vote, use it wisely!

No chance here of seeing the crescent moon close to Venus this evening, but do look out for them if you have clearer skies. They should be very beautiful. And if you have a clear sky in the morning, look for Mercury between Mars and where the sun will rise.
Thank you to all of you who’ve bought your 2020 Moonwise Calendars and Diaries already, and Jane Bottomley has been very pleased to receive your comments. I'm delighted to be able to tell you that she has agreed to produce the pictures again for 2021.

For those of you who haven’t bought yet, do check out the link below to discover the various combination discounts available.

As we are in the season of gifts, I thought I'd continue to feature the great words games Dicewords and Juggler by my friend Graham Lipscomb. The games are quick and fun, and are small enough to take travelling. I’ve played both games many times, and very much enjoy them. Buy them along with calendars or diaries and save a bit of money.

Click on the icons at the top of the order form to see what else we have. For instance, there is A Patchwork of Angels, a magical fantasy novel for teenagers and adults.
I'll publish the next newsletter early so there'll still be time to order before the holidays, and in a week or so I'll be sending reminder postcards out to a few of you as well.

Enjoy the dark evenings, and the run up to the festivities. Maybe the UK election too!
