Every night in the Moonwise Calendar (up to 2006) there are printed two words connected with the Moon’s position and aspects with the Sun and planets. The first word is one of three vibrations of a moonsign. In this case it indicates the Moon’s position at 23:00 UT (00:00 BST/18:00 EST), where each sign is split into thirds. The second word is a quick sketch of the meaning of the moon aspect that happens nearest to 23:00 UT. See the table below. The two words together often make an interesting and even humorous combination, and can be an indication of the character of the night.

  Conjunction Sextile Square Trine Opposition
Sun rebirth instinct inhibition confidence howl
Mercury communicator balance superficiality song frustration
Venus creativity harmony vulnerability beauty loveloser
Mars assertiveness sexuality anger activist harshness
Jupiter empathy generosity extravagance prophet martyr
Saturn responsibility security isolation nurture judge
Uranus dreamer sparkle disruption spontaneity instability
Neptune mystic sensitivity fantasy psychic obscurer
Pluto transformer teacher destroyer seer dominator

If there is no aspect within 18 hours, the word is ‘purity’. The names of the higher, middle and lower sign vibrations are from the work of Eli Sandoz, but with dragon substituted for eagle, and waterboy (Ganymede) for water carrier.
